Netflix is all set to wow viewers worldwide with a packed lineup of shows for the last half of 2024.
Co-CEO Ted Sarandos showed their big list of upcoming shows during the company’s first-quarter earnings call, making it clear that Netflix will be buzzing with old favorites coming back and some exciting new shows.
Netflix’s biggest hit, Squid Game, is returning for a much-awaited second season. Its first season hit screens in 2021 and quickly became a worldwide hit, smashing Netflix’s viewing records.
They confirmed its return back in June 2022, and while we have yet to set exact dates, we know it’ll be sometime in the second half of 2024.
The Night Agent is returning for season 2 after a tremendous first season. We’ll also see the final season of Cobra Kai and new seasons for Outer Banks and Emily in Paris.
Ryan Murphy’s Monster anthology, which will dive into the story of Lyle and Erik Menendez in its second season, is another big one to watch out for.
Netflix is adding some new shows to its lineup, including Peter Berg’s Western American Primeval and a limited series about the famous Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna called Senna.
A new show based on Elin Hilderbrand’s book The Perfect Couple, starring Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber, is set to start.
The busy schedule is partly because of delays caused by last year’s strikes in the industry.
These strikes stopped production in summer and fall for a few months, but things are back on track now.
This catch-up means we can expect a steady flow of new and returning shows in the last months of 2024.
Sarandos also talked about how Netflix deals with getting shows from other big companies. They’ve had some big wins, like last year’s Suits and several HBO series.
Netflix plans to keep tight control of its budget while choosing shows that will really help its business grow.
Netflix is getting ready for what could be a record-setting end to 2024.
With a great mix of eagerly awaited comebacks and exciting new shows, Netflix looks set to keep its spot as the industry’s top streaming service.
